Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Nuix is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Sydney office, working closely with engineering managers, principal engineers, architects, and product teams to deliver high‑quality products that help customers uncover truth from data.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end delivery of significant features and epics, from design through testing and shipping.
• Ensure non‑functional requirements such as security, performance and DevOps are addressed and architecture principles are followed.
• Provide thoughtful code reviews on complex pull requests, capturing security concerns and promoting secure‑by‑design practices.
• Set and refine code best practices, maintain QA gates, and actively participate in architecture discussions.
• Mentor mid‑level, associate and graduate engineers and drive collaboration across teams and geographies.
• Contribute to the design, evaluation and shipping of AI agents and agentic capabilities in the platform.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Typically 7+ years of software engineering experience delivering complex end‑to‑end work.
• Recognised subject‑matter expert in at least one technical area with strong communication skills.
• Positive, mentoring presence in a distributed team.

Required skills

• Strong backend Java development experience, particularly with the Spring framework.
• Full‑stack capability valued, including React and TypeScript.
• Exposure to Python and model‑backed components is a plus.
• Experience with containerised, cloud and on‑prem delivery using Docker, Kubernetes and AWS.
• Interest or experience in AI/LLM‑backed features, agents or NLP/document‑intelligence domains.
