Senior Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build and own features end‑to‑end on ProSpend’s spend‑management platform. The role is full‑time, on‑site in North Sydney CBD with 2‑3 days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Own features from specification through production, driving the full development lifecycle.
• Work agent‑first with AI coding tools: translate Jira tickets and ambiguous requirements into clear, testable specs, delegate first‑pass implementation to agents, and review for architecture, correctness, and conventions.
• Orchestrate multiple agent tasks in parallel, designing feedback loops, tests, evaluations and guardrails to ensure reliable autonomous work.
• Drive test automation and test‑driven development using Playwright, JUnit and Jest, integrating tests into CI pipelines.
• Maintain a high verification bar by catching defects through disciplined review, strong typing and automated checks.
• Elevate the team by setting coding conventions, writing specifications and providing context that make both agents and teammates effective.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of Java and Spring development.
• 3+ years of experience with a JavaScript framework (Vue or React).
• At least 1 year of experience in testing, maintaining or launching software products.
• 1+ year of experience in software design and architecture.
• 1+ year of hands‑on experience with generative AI agents.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented programming and design patterns.
• Fluent use of AI coding agents (Claude Code, Gemini, Codex) in production environments.
• Excellent code‑reading and review skills, able to assess architecture, correctness and maintainability quickly.
• Disciplined test‑automation practice, writing meaningful tests with Playwright, JUnit, etc.
