Senior Software Engineer

About the role

We are a venture‑backed medical‑device company developing an innovative fetal monitoring solution. As a Senior Software Engineer you will design, develop and maintain the software that powers the device and its clinical applications, working on‑site in Perth alongside engineers, clinicians and product stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement back‑end services, APIs and database integrations.
• Write clean, testable, production‑grade C/C++ code.
• Conduct code reviews and troubleshoot complex issues in test and production environments.
• Contribute to system design decisions, ensuring reliability, performance and compliance with medical‑device regulations.
• Define development standards, CI/CD pipelines and monitoring practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in sprint planning.
• Support verification, validation and documentation activities required for regulated products.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in computer science, data structures, algorithms and software architecture.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and experience delivering production‑grade applications.
• Hands‑on experience with back‑end web development, including APIs, databases and cloud or on‑premise integration.
• Experience in regulated or safety‑critical environments such as medical devices is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with version control, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and document work thoroughly.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
