Senior Software Engineer II - Biometric Anti-Spoofing

About the role

IDVerse, a Sydney-based start-up building digital identity verification technology, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer II. The engineer develops advanced systems that detect and prevent spoofing attacks during biometric authentication, using machine learning and deep learning to distinguish genuine human interactions from fraudulent attempts.

Key responsibilities

• Design liveness detection systems that use AI to differentiate real from fake biometric data, analysing facial features, eye movements and other physiological indicators.
• Build and optimise deep learning models for liveness detection, selecting algorithms, running experiments and tuning parameters.
• Extract features from biometric data such as texture analysis, motion-based detection and 3D depth analysis.
• Collect, clean and preprocess large datasets with data scientists, ensuring data integrity.
• Implement machine learning algorithms that process real-time biometric data, including multimodal approaches like facial recognition, fingerprint scanning and iris recognition.
• Test and validate systems against various spoofing techniques, then deploy them in production and monitor their accuracy and efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
• Experience in similar roles focusing on anti-spoofing or biometric security systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a grasp of statistics, probability and data analysis.
• Ability to collaborate with data scientists, software engineers and product managers.
• Familiarity with anti-spoofing standards such as NIST ISO/IEC 30107 or FIDO.

Required skills

• Deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras or PyTorch.
• Programming in Python, Java or R for model development and algorithm implementation.
