Senior Software Engineer - Digital Payments

About the role

NRMA Insurance, part of Insurance Australia Group (IAG), is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to shape the future of digital payments and build modern, secure and scalable payment solutions. The role works alongside engineers, designers and product specialists, influences customer-facing products, mentors others and uses AI-enabled engineering practices. It is a permanent full-time position based in Darling Park 2 (Sydney), Melbourne or Brisbane.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of modern payment experiences, including checkout journeys, account management features and customer-facing digital capabilities.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering teams to deliver scalable, responsive and accessible solutions.
• Apply AI-enabled engineering practices to improve delivery efficiency, code quality and team effectiveness.
• Translate complex business and payment requirements into intuitive, high-quality user interfaces and services.
• Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, secure development practices and continuous improvement.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to agile delivery activities such as planning, refinement, reviews and roadmap delivery.

Required profile

• Strong experience building modern applications using React, TypeScript, Node.js and contemporary web technologies.
• A track record of delivering customer-facing digital products in agile environments.
• Experience applying AI tools or practices to support software engineering outcomes.
• Confidence working across front-end and back-end technologies in full-stack environments.
• An understanding of secure, accessible and high-performing application development.
• Experience integrating APIs, services or payment-related platforms is highly valued.
