Staff Software Engineer - iOS

About the role

CommBank is looking for a Staff iOS Engineer to lead and elevate native iOS engineering within its Digital squad, the Plan, Save and Grow team in Retail Technology. As a senior technical lead, you will shape the architecture of Commbank Mobile and NetBank, raise engineering standards and drive world-class customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Champion modern iOS development using Swift and SwiftUI, and promote platform excellence across accessibility, performance, security and reliability
• Implement and advocate Apple Human Interface Guidelines and platform best practices
• Mentor engineers in writing clean, maintainable, well-tested Swift code and make key architectural decisions
• Integrate Python-based Agentic LLM services into secure mobile experiences with backend, AI and platform teams
• Shape technical roadmaps with Product Owners and stakeholders

Required profile

• Technical leadership with the ability to influence design decisions and give architectural guidance
• Extensive experience building native iOS apps in Swift, with strong SwiftUI and UIKit proficiency
• Deep understanding of iOS architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, modularisation), concurrency, performance, accessibility and secure mobile development
• Experience monitoring app health, crash analytics and observability tools
• CI/CD experience and familiarity with public cloud environments (AWS preferred)
