Senior Safety Advisor – Government Transformation Program

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Senior Safety Advisor to join a high‑impact government transformation program. Working on a contract basis, you will help redesign and roll out key Safety Management System (SMS) components to raise safety capability across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and refine practical safety frameworks, policies and procedures.
• Translate complex OHS legislation and regulatory requirements into clear operational solutions.
• Drive implementation of improved safety systems, assurance frameworks and controls.
• Build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Support audit, risk and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Embed a sustainable, mature safety culture throughout the organisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Safety Advisor or WHS specialist in government, utilities, infrastructure or similarly complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of OHS legislation, compliance frameworks and ISO standards (ISO 45001 highly regarded).
• Hands‑on experience developing or uplifting Safety Management Systems.
• Ability to engage, influence and build credibility with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in risk management, audits, investigations and assurance.
• Excellent written communication, especially in policy and system development.
