Senior Protection Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Protection Engineer to design, implement and maintain protection systems for electrical substations and high‑voltage transmission networks. The role supports our client in the T&D and renewable sectors, ensuring reliable and safe power transmission infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement protection systems for substations and transmission networks.
• Conduct system studies, fault analysis and relay coordination to optimise performance.
• Collaborate with project managers, design engineers and field technicians to deliver projects on schedule.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and best practices.
• Prepare technical documentation such as protection settings, schematics and reports.
• Provide technical support and training to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Stay current with protection technology advancements and integrate innovative solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in protection engineering for substations and transmission‑level systems.
• Strong knowledge of protection relays, control systems and fault analysis.
• Familiarity with utility projects and standards such as IEEE, IEC and NERC.
• Proficiency with engineering software for system modelling and analysis.
• Excellent problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
