Senior Procurement and Contracts Officer

About the role

The Senior Procurement and Contracts Officer will lead medium‑value procurement activities and manage supplier contracts for Forensic Science Queensland. This position ensures compliance with the Queensland Procurement Policy 2026 and related governance frameworks while delivering required business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end procurement process, including sourcing documentation, release, evaluation, and contract negotiation.
• Develop and administer contracts with suppliers, aligning obligations with delivery KPIs.
• Complete contract disclosure reports and maintain procurement data in the VendorPanel system to meet Department of Justice reporting obligations.
• Provide high‑level, timely advice on procurement and contract management matters across a broad range of commodities, including general goods, services, and ICT.
• Maintain a detailed documentary record of procurement decisions and contractual arrangements for probity, accountability, and audit purposes.
• Exercise procurement delegation, certifying that sourcing activities comply with departmental policies and the Queensland Procurement Policy 2026.
• Stay current with contemporary procurement strategies, policies, and government initiatives that impact the function.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in procurement and contract management, preferably within a government or public sector environment.
• Strong knowledge of the Queensland Procurement Policy 2026 and related governance requirements.
• Ability to provide accurate, high‑quality advice to internal clients on procurement matters.
• Proven capability to maintain comprehensive audit trails and documentation.
• Commitment to continuous professional development in procurement best practices.
