Senior Pharmacist – Medicines Governance

About the role

Western Health is seeking an experienced Senior Pharmacist to lead Medicines Governance across its network of sites. The role focuses on driving innovation, standardisation, and efficiency in medication use while supporting best‑practice clinical care.

Key responsibilities

• Manage PBS operations efficiently across all Western Health sites.
• Support the Drug and Therapeutics Committee in its activities.
• Coordinate governance and processing of Individual Patient Use (IPU) applications, medication access programmes and non‑formulary medicines, ensuring stewardship of high‑cost drugs.
• Update and publish Policies, Procedures and Guidelines (PPGs) in line with review dates.
• Oversee pharmacist review of non‑Pharmacy sponsored PPGs, liaising with lead and senior pharmacists in specialist areas.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with multidisciplinary stakeholders to shape clinical policy and service delivery.
• Expertise in developing and governing clinical policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Strong word‑processing, spreadsheet and database software abilities.
• Broad experience providing pharmacy services across multiple specialty areas.
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication, negotiation and conflict‑management skills.
• Sound knowledge of pharmacy services and adherence to AdPha Guidelines.
• Experience delivering education and training to pharmacy staff and students.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise workload effectively.
