Senior Payroll Consultant – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term

About the role

ING is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Consultant to join its Payroll team in Sydney on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will own the end‑to‑end fortnightly payroll process for over 2,200 employees, ensuring accurate and compliant payments while enhancing the overall employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing, guaranteeing accuracy, compliance and high‑quality service.
• Provide expert advice on Australian payroll legislation, awards, taxation, superannuation and employee benefits.
• Partner with HR, Finance and external vendors (ADP) to resolve payroll matters and deliver seamless outcomes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and strengthen controls.
• Prepare payroll reporting, reconciliations and insights to meet business and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Extensive payroll experience in a medium to large, complex organisation, preferably within financial services or a highly regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and compliance requirements.
• Proactive mindset with a passion for process improvement and operational excellence.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to build trusted relationships at all levels.

Required skills

• Experience with payroll systems such as ADP.
• Familiarity with Workday HR platform.
