Senior Network and Communications Specialist

About the role

Raytheon Australia is seeking a Senior Network and Communications Specialist to join its team at RAAF Base Amberley in Queensland. The role covers the technical management and maintenance of IT communications infrastructure and its supporting subsystems across MTTES production and test environments, for both classified and unclassified networks. It is a hybrid position.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day operational and administrative tasks, monitor system availability, handle incidents and resolve problems while following change management procedures.
• Provide leadership and technical expertise, and lead assigned project tasks under the direction of the ICT and Network Team Leads so projects are delivered on time, within budget and to stated objectives.
• Integrate systems using bearer technologies such as V/UHF, cellular, satellite and microwave.
• Design and implement overlay networks using internet protocol encryptors.
• Produce and maintain ICT engineering documentation.
• Support the maintenance and delivery of operational networks and communications systems.
• Install, configure, test and debug complex networks within specified timelines to support maintenance and capability upgrades.
• Work with other technical teams and project managers to meet equipment requirements, and act as subject matter expert on operational systems networks.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of Cisco networking experience or equivalent Cisco certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP).
• University degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience desirable.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an NV2 security clearance as needed.
• Understanding of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritising, coaching and process execution; Agile experience highly desirable.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of networking and communications technologies.
• Experience with Unix/Linux, MS Server, Active Directory, network management and application servers.
• Juniper Junos experience (JNCIA-Juniper) or general Juniper exposure desirable; network architecture and network automation tool experience desirable.
