Senior Medical Officer – Paediatric Anaesthesia

About the role

The Senior Medical Officer in Paediatric Anaesthesia will deliver specialist anaesthetic care for children and young people across a tertiary/quaternary health service, ensuring safe, family‑centred outcomes in line with CHQ values and leadership frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide the full range of paediatric anaesthetic services, including on‑call duties, pre‑operative assessments, intra‑operative care and acute pain management.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, obtain consent and uphold confidentiality according to ANZCA standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, liaison units and referring hospitals to coordinate peri‑procedural care.
• Contribute to departmental initiatives, professional communities and the delivery of evidence‑based inpatient, outpatient, outreach and tele‑health models of care.

Required profile

• Qualified anaesthetist with specialist experience in paediatric anaesthesia.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a high‑volume tertiary/quaternary setting and manage on‑call responsibilities.
