Senior Medical Officer - Older Persons Mental Health Service

About the role

Metro North Mental Health is recruiting a Senior Medical Officer / Staff Specialist for its Older Persons Mental Health Service in Brisbane. The role provides specialist psychiatric care to older adults with complex mental health conditions, working in a multidisciplinary team across inpatient, community and extended treatment settings. It combines clinical practice with leadership, education and service development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and ongoing management for older consumers with complex mental health conditions.
• Deliver clinical leadership within multidisciplinary mental health teams to support safe, effective and person-centred care.
• Supervise, educate and mentor registrars, junior medical officers, medical students and other healthcare professionals.
• Support quality improvement, clinical governance, research and service evaluation activities.
• Participate in after-hours on-call and ECT rosters while complying with the Mental Health Act 2016 and clinical practice standards.

Required profile

• Ability to perform the accountabilities listed above in line with Metro North Health's values.
• Experience and classification L18-L27 (health - medical).
