Senior Media Planner – Media Planning, Sydney

About the role

Think HQ is looking for its first dedicated media hire, a Senior Media Planner based in Sydney. As a founding member of the media team, you will help build the function, work closely with creative, research, PR and strategy, and lead end-to-end media planning from audience analysis and channel selection through vendor negotiations, briefings and performance evaluation. The role suits full-time, part-time or flexible arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement media planning recommendations and buying frameworks for clients, and determine the optimal mix of ATL, digital, social and community-specific channels for government, NFP and commercial clients.
• Brief the Media Buyer so the plan can be activated across the Australian multicultural media landscape.
• Analyse first and third-party data (Nielsen, Roy Morgan, etc.), develop audience profiles with a focus on CALD and diverse communities, and build reporting models showing campaign impact and ROI.
• Leverage industry connections to negotiate rates and first-to-market opportunities, act as the main contact for media owners, and oversee the move from outsourced to internal media.
• Support new business pitches with media-buying insights, mentor the creative and PR teams, and align media strategies with the agency's mission.

Required profile

• 8+ years in media strategy and planning, ideally in a top-tier agency.
• Strong network in the Australian media landscape.
• Ability to turn complex data into simple, actionable strategies for clients.
• Self-starter, collaborative and entrepreneurial, with a mission to advance health, education, inclusion and social justice.
