Senior Mechanical Engineer - Project

About the role

APA, Australia's energy infrastructure partner, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer - Project to join its Gas Operations East team in Brisbane, QLD or Fyshwick, ACT. Reporting to the Team Lead Project Delivery NSW, the role provides technical support and supervision during all project phases so that designs meet operational requirements and engineering standards. It is a permanent full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee engineering design activities so that all work meets project scope, operational requirements and relevant engineering standards.
• Develop and manage design schedules, drawings, specifications and technical documentation, ensuring the required approvals are obtained.
• Monitor project progress, budgets and timelines, identify risks early and resolve issues to ensure successful delivery.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, design teams, operations, contractors and service providers to coordinate projects effectively.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to junior engineers while promoting a strong safety and quality culture.

Required profile

• Strong engineering background with experience managing engineering design activities and project delivery.
• Proven leadership skills, able to mentor engineers and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Planning and organisational skills, with experience managing competing priorities, budgets and project schedules.
• Proactive problem solving, with a commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
• Eligible to work in Australia; candidates working with critical data, systems or infrastructure are subject to background vetting including police checks.
