Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Anduril Australia is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of advanced undersea vehicle systems, including the Extra Large Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (XL‑AUV) program.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed plans, specifications, and mechanical designs for new XL‑AUVs and related hardware.
• Perform simulation and analysis such as modal and spectral response, ensuring compliance with maritime standards.
• Inspect parts, subsystems, and complete vehicles to meet design specifications and regulations.
• Support manufacturing, testing, deployment and design validation testing of components.
• Travel up to 20% to co‑locate with end‑users, vendors, or integration teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Naval Architecture or related field.
• Proven experience designing, analyzing, and delivering complex mechanical systems.
• Ability to act as technical owner for structural components across the product lifecycle.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.

Required skills

• NX, FEMAP, Teamcenter (or similar CAD/FEA/PLM tools).
• Finite Element Method modeling for stress, strain, and modal analysis.
• Experience with welding, machining, sheet metal, injection molding, composites, additive manufacturing.
• Simulation and analysis of mechanical designs, including modal/spectral response.
