Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead end‑to‑end mechanical design on a variety of greenfield and brownfield resources projects. Based in Townsville, you will work with a high‑performing engineering team across mining, minerals processing and heavy‑industry sectors, taking ownership from concept through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Define project scope, develop business cases and deliver designs through to handover.
• Support construction and commissioning activities, including occasional site‑based work.
• Produce designs that meet legislation, standards and client requirements.
• Perform mechanical and piping engineering calculations for bulk material handling, wet process and heavy‑industry plants.
• Develop and improve mechanical and piping design tools, drawings, datasheets, equipment schedules and models.
• Provide regular project updates, report issues promptly and contribute to cost estimates and tender documentation.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• CPEng or RPEQ (or working towards qualification).
• 7+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably in a multidisciplinary consultancy.
• Significant experience in mining, minerals processing or related industrial environments.
• Proven ability to interpret project and client specifications and work autonomously.
