Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Mining Equipment

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Kewdale team, reporting to the Engineering Manager APAC. You will lead the design, development and continuous improvement of heavy‑fabricated mining products such as excavator buckets, truck trays, water tanks and service bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise welded structures and fabricated mining equipment using Creo Parametric.
• Conduct engineering investigations, root‑cause analysis and fatigue assessments to improve product reliability.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet Australian standards.
• Manage engineering changes, product improvement programmes and documentation in Windchill PLM.
• Perform finite element analysis and engineering calculations to verify structural integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of mechanical design experience in heavy fabrication, mining or mobile equipment.
• Proven track record designing welded structures for mining attachments.
• Strong knowledge of weld design, fatigue, structural integrity and Australian mining standards.
• Experience investigating field failures and delivering corrective actions.

• Knowledge of Hardox, Bisalloy and high‑strength structural steels.
