Senior Manager, Operational Risk – Wealth Solutions & Portfolio Management

About the role

This senior second‑line position provides operational risk oversight for the Wealth portfolio within ANZ's Business & Private Banking division. You will challenge controls, assess risk exposures and shape risk‑aware decisions across wealth, investment and advisory products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead second‑line review and challenge of material wealth risks, controls, incidents and remediation plans.
• Conduct targeted risk reviews using defined scope, sampling, evidence testing and practical recommendations.
• Assess control design and operating effectiveness across the full customer journey.
• Challenge first‑line risk assessments, control self‑assessments and issue closure packs where evidence is weak.
• Provide deep subject‑matter expertise on wealth outcomes, advice obligations, conflicts, fees, platform operations, complaints and remediation.
• Identify emerging risk themes across products, processes, systems, service providers and change initiatives.
• Prepare concise Voice of Risk positions for governance forums, highlighting exposure, regulatory impact and required actions.
• Collaborate with adjacent portfolios to translate wealth risk insights into broader operational risk themes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in operational risk within wealth, investment, advisory, superannuation or related regulatory environments.
• Proven ability to form independent risk views, test controls in practice and identify customer/regulatory exposures.
• Strong analytical skills with experience using data, sampling results, audit findings and control metrics to form evidence‑based opinions.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate risk positions to senior governance bodies.
