Senior Java Developer – Microservices (AWS)

About the role

Join the Microservice Solutions team at Auto and General to design and build highly available Java micro‑services that power our digital insurance platform. You will work in an Agile environment, delivering customer‑facing and internal applications that run on AWS.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy fit‑for‑purpose Java solutions that meet sprint goals.
• Lead solution architecture for modern micro‑service ecosystems.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and AWS deployment infrastructure.
• Own product quality, introduce testing best practices (unit, integration, end‑to‑end).
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts and cross‑functional team members.
• Provide coaching and share expertise across the team.

Required profile

• Extensive experience building, deploying and supporting enterprise software.
• Expert knowledge of Java, Spring Boot and Spring Cloud micro‑service frameworks.
• Strong SQL and ORM experience.
• Proficiency in technical documentation (designs, UML, user guides).
• Experience with application and system monitoring tools.
• Hands‑on with AWS developer tools, Docker and cloud deployment.
• Comfortable using Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket) and applying security standards.
