Senior High Voltage Technician / Field Service Engineer

About the role

Powertech, a provider of high-voltage and low-voltage commissioning and maintenance services across Australia and Southeast Asia, is looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer / Senior High Voltage Technician to join its Malaga office in Perth on a full-time permanent basis. Applicants should live locally or be willing to relocate; relocation costs can be discussed for candidates coming from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand. The role involves national and international project travel.

Key responsibilities

• Commission, test and maintain HV protection systems and schemes, with IEC61850 / GOOSE experience highly desirable
• Commission, test and maintain HV substation secondary systems and primary plant, as well as HV/LV plant and assets
• Commission, test and maintain power generation systems and power transformers
• Provide technical support and training to technicians, and lead and supervise them
• Prepare commissioning and testing documentation, protection test plans and detailed technical reports

Required profile

• At least 10 years of experience
• High theoretical and practical knowledge of HV primary plant and secondary systems
• Preferred "A Grade" electrical workers licence or an Engineers Australia-recognised degree/diploma in power systems
• HV switching ticket preferred
• Proven ability to meet project quality, schedule and budget requirements, and a strong safety focus

Required skills

• IEC61850 and GOOSE messaging through IED Scout viewed favourably
• Knowledge of Australian and international standards and relevant legislation and procedures
• Proven experience with the Omicron suite of equipment for secondary system testing
• Power station experience viewed favourably
