Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Block Cave Project

About the role

Evolution Mining is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead the geotechnical management of the E22 Block Cave Project at its Northparkes Operations in New South Wales. Reporting to the Principal Mining Engineer, you will help shape the geotechnical strategy that supports the safe and successful development of a major underground orebody, as part of the Major Projects execution team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical management and monitoring of the E22 Block Cave Project, ensuring safe and sustainable outcomes.
• Shape geotechnical strategies, deliver and optimise development design, massex chamber sequencing, cave performance, extraction level stability and ground support effectiveness.
• Provide technical guidance through advanced geotechnical analysis, numerical modelling and risk assessments.
• Influence mine planning decisions through geotechnical recommendations and operational risk management.
• Drive continuous improvement by introducing monitoring technologies, automation initiatives and industry-leading geotechnical practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in underground hard rock mining environments.
• Strong practical geotechnical experience, ideally in underground, cave or block cave mining.
• Experience in geotechnical analysis, ground support design, excavation stability and geotechnical risk management.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical and operational stakeholders.
• Nice to have: experience with massex chambers, cave establishment and performance monitoring, Chartered Professional Engineer status or eligibility, and exposure to large-scale underground projects.

Required skills

• Geotechnical modelling software, including calibration experience.
• Geotechnical analysis and numerical modelling.
