Senior Food Technologist

About the role

JBS Pork, Australia's leading integrated agri-food company, is looking for a Senior Food Technologist to join its Value-Add team at the Laverton site in Melbourne. Reporting to the R&D Product Manager, you will develop innovative, market-ready food products from concept through to commercialisation, acting as the technical expert who turns innovation concepts into commercially successful products. You will lead product formulation, testing, process optimisation and scale-up while keeping quality and regulatory compliance throughout.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise product formulations, prototypes and samples to meet customer and business requirements.
• Lead product testing, sensory evaluations and technical assessments to ensure quality, safety and performance.
• Manage product scale-up from benchtop development through pilot trials to full commercial production.
• Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with food regulations, specifications and quality systems.
• Work with cross-functional teams and suppliers to troubleshoot issues, source ingredients and deliver successful product outcomes.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in product development, R&D or food manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, quality systems and regulatory requirements, including FSANZ.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and organisational skills.
• Collaborative approach and ability to work across technical, operational and commercial teams.
