Senior Financial Accountant

About the role

Nexl is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to own the engine room of its finance function. Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will manage month‑end close, audit compliance and core finance workflows across Australian and US entities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end close, including journals, accruals, deferred revenue, balance‑sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Manage multi‑entity reporting and bank reconciliations for Australian and US operations.
• Run end‑to‑end accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, collections and aged reporting.
• Support payroll processing, cash management and treasury activities.
• Maintain audit readiness, liaise with external auditors and ensure statutory tax obligations are met.
• Identify and implement process improvements, leveraging AI tools to automate reconciliations and data preparation.
• Assist with technology roll‑outs, testing, data migration and training for new finance systems.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification with 3‑5 years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in a high‑growth B2B SaaS environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, revenue and cost recognition, and subscription billing.
• Hands‑on experience with month‑end close, AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations and multi‑entity reporting.
• Proven ability to work in a scaling environment where problems are ambiguous and ownership is critical.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero or similar cloud accounting platforms.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate reconciliations, reporting and documentation.
• Familiarity with subscription billing systems and multi‑entity reporting.
