Senior Finance Officer

About the role

Legal Aid Queensland is seeking a Senior Finance Officer to lead revenue and debt management activities within its Finance, Analysis and Facilities team. You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the organisation's financial resources while supporting its mission of delivering justice to financially disadvantaged Queenslanders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement debt management policies and asset reconciliation processes.
• Provide complex advice to internal file managers on debt recovery strategies.
• Negotiate payment and instalment plans with clients facing financial or social challenges.
• Coordinate outstanding debt files, conduct monthly reconciliations, and prepare recommendations for debt write‑offs or amendments.
• Maintain and update the Australian Charities and Not‑for‑profits Commission (ACNC) register for Legal Aid Queensland.
• Ensure compliance with debt collection policies and deliver high standards of governance and financial practice.

Required profile

• Strong analytical skills with experience in debt recovery processes.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency with IT systems, particularly Microsoft Office and related organisational tools.
• Effective, empathetic communication with diverse stakeholders, including clients with complex needs.
• Resilience, flexibility, and a willingness to embrace change.
• Financial qualification is highly regarded, though not mandatory.
