Senior Estimator, Mechanical

About the role

ACCIONA delivers infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand, including civil construction, transport, rail, road, water and tunnelling projects. Its Studies and Bids team builds the estimates that win work, working with project teams, subcontractors and clients from tender through to award. This Senior Estimator, Mechanical position reports to the Estimating Manager and owns the estimates and proposals for assigned bids.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate tender documents, understand client requirements and gather subcontractor pricing
• Develop cost estimates and coordinate proposals for assigned projects, and provide area-specific forecasts and project status reports
• Act as lead client contact for proposals and maintain client relations
• Revise estimates, implement changes and ensure bid formats meet client standards
• Coordinate with subcontractors to obtain pricing inputs on labour, materials and other costs
• Review, give feedback and evaluate the performance of estimators and senior estimators
• Help recruit estimators, set estimating standards and quality controls with the quality group, and hand over won tenders to project management

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in Engineering or a similar qualification
• At least 10 years of estimating experience on projects built with different tunnelling methods, covering metro, rail, highways and utilities
• Solid understanding of ground conditioning and TBM ground conditioning systems

Required skills

• Knowledge of planning and construction methodologies
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
