Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

Powertech, an Electrical EPC and services provider active since 1998 across Oil & Gas, Mining, Utilities, Defence, Infrastructure and Energy, is looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Malaga office in Perth on a full-time permanent basis. Relocation support is offered to candidates coming from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Perform FEED and detailed design for substation equipment and systems, including protection design, AC/DC switchgear, switchyard, substation building and auxiliaries, and battery/battery charger/UPS.
• Carry out power system modelling and analysis studies for protection coordination, load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash and lightning protection.
• Design earthing systems, including step and touch potential, EPR, earth grid design and portable earthing.
• Carry out technical and economic feasibility studies, support estimating and project framing, and contribute to asset lifecycle engineering and analysis.
• Help develop engineering standards, processes and systems, and supervise and train engineers and graduates.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
• Chartered status (CPEng), or the ability to achieve it within 6 months of starting.
• Detailed knowledge of design quality assurance processes and the standards, legislation, policies and procedures applicable to designs and studies.
• Experience producing design scopes, specifications and project estimates, and writing detailed technical reports and technical arguments.
• Proven track record of delivering complete turnkey design solutions on projects worth up to $5 million.
• Strong understanding of HV substation design areas: control, automation, protection and communications.
