Senior Electrical Engineer, HV/Primary

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong high‑voltage (HV) and primary systems expertise to design and deliver HV substations and primary plant for Australia’s clean‑energy transition. The role will support a variety of infrastructure projects across multiple Australian locations, focusing on cost‑effective, technically robust and constructible solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Apply mechanical and electrical engineering principles to independently develop system designs that meet project specifications and incorporate RAM principles.
• Develop and refine design components, ensuring alignment with overall system requirements.
• Use modelling and simulation tools to optimise and validate system performance and compliance.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, including design drawings, reports and specifications.
• Perform Safety in Design assessments and integrate safety considerations into design decisions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical, electrical, controls and communications systems.
• Coordinate across disciplines to resolve interface issues and ensure design integration.

Required profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered status (RPEV, RPEQ, NER, CPEng) or ability to achieve within six months of start.
• 4+ years of HV/primary design experience for transmission networks (220 kV+).
• Proven expertise in HV equipment selection and design.
