Senior Director, Compliance Programs

About the role

Optus is seeking a seasoned Senior Director to lead its Compliance Programs across the organisation. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, you will shape the maturity of the compliance management framework while balancing regulatory rigour with commercial pragmatism.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small team to identify, assess and assign ownership of regulatory obligations across business units.
• Build and maintain cross‑functional relationships to embed compliance ownership and ensure consistent implementation of the Controls Framework.
• Drive continuous improvement of compliance processes, seeking opportunities to uplift capability and reduce risk.
• Partner with Regulatory, Risk and Internal Audit to avoid duplication of effort and support the Compliance Uplift program.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hazard assessment and governance within a highly regulated industry.
• Deep knowledge of obligations under the Competition and Consumer Act.
• Graduate degree or equivalent in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Law or related field; risk/compliance qualification preferred.
• Strong influencing and communication skills to engage at all organisational levels.
