Senior Designer – Innovation & Experience

About the role

The Senior Designer – Innovation & Experience will shape the design direction for Telstra’s future retail environments. Working hands‑on within the Innovation & Experience stream, you will translate emerging concepts into scalable, customer‑focused retail experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to Telstra’s retail innovation and experience strategy, defining principles, design intent and success metrics.
• Lead or support the design of flagship, icon and pilot environments that act as test‑beds for future retail concepts.
• Develop concepts, prototypes and spatial experiences that explore new service models and formats.
• Balance creative ambition with operational feasibility, commercial outcomes and brand alignment.
• Collaborate with Retail Operations, Brand, Marketing, Product, Space Planning and Technology teams, as well as external agencies and vendors.
• Present design concepts clearly to secure stakeholder alignment and decision‑making.
• Deliver high‑quality design execution, documentation and prototyping, embedding learnings into future formats.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Experience Design or a related field.
• Proven experience delivering design outcomes in complex retail or service environments.
• Ability to contribute to experience strategy and translate it into physical environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration capabilities.
• Understanding of end‑to‑end retail ecosystems and customer journeys.
• Capacity to balance creative ambition with practical and commercial constraints.
