Senior Design Engineer, Geotechnical

About the role

Keller Australia, the world's largest geotechnical engineering contractor, is looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join its growing Engineering team in Braeside, Melbourne. Working closely with the Engineering Manager, the role provides technical leadership across tenders, estimates and project delivery while supporting the development of Keller's engineering capability nationally. You will prepare, review and implement detailed geotechnical designs for piling and ground improvement projects, mentor engineers and help deliver innovative, commercially effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review detailed geotechnical and structural designs for piling and ground improvement projects
• Provide technical support and design verification during project delivery
• Undertake advanced numerical modelling and analysis
• Mentor graduate engineers and other developing design staff
• Support tenders, estimates, technical submissions and constructability reviews
• Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards, client requirements and Keller HSEQ standards
• Develop cost-effective engineering solutions and build relationships with clients, suppliers and stakeholders
• Support business development and represent Keller in technical discussions where required

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
• 7-10+ years' experience in geotechnical design and project delivery
• Professional Engineer status, with ability to obtain registration and licensing across Australia, including Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation systems and ground improvement solutions
• Knowledge of Australian Standards including AS2159, AS3600 and AS4100
• Structural and Civil Engineering experience highly regarded

Required skills

• High-level proficiency in geotechnical modelling software such as Plaxis 2D/3D, WALLAP, RAPT or ADSEC
• Strong communication, leadership and mentoring capability
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
