Senior Dental Assistant / Receptionist

About the role

Maven Dental Maroochydore, which offers general, restorative and implant dentistry on Plaza Parade, is looking for an experienced Senior Dental Assistant/Receptionist on a casual basis. The role covers both clinical and front-desk duties during periods of leave and busier times, supporting the dentists, oral health therapist, Practice Manager and front office team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance to dentists and support a range of dental procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms, sterilise instruments and maintain infection control standards
• Ensure clinical equipment, instruments and materials are ready for use
• Welcome patients and manage check-in and check-out
• Schedule appointments, manage recalls and respond to phone and online enquiries
• Process payments, HICAPS claims and health fund enquiries
• Maintain accurate patient records and billing information with care and confidentiality
• Explain treatment costs, health fund benefits and gap payments
• Support the wider team and help maintain a smooth patient flow

Required profile

• Previous experience in dental assisting, ideally at senior level
• Experience in dental reception or willingness to work across front-desk duties
• Availability across Monday to Saturday and flexibility to assist with both clinical and reception duties

Required skills

• Excellent communication and patient service skills
• Confidence using dental practice software and computer applications
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to adapt to a busy practice
• Knowledge of infection control, sterilisation and clinical protocols
