Senior Data Engineer

About the role

Bridgit, a non-bank lender helping Australians access property equity, is hiring a Senior Data Engineer in Sydney. You will help design, build and maintain highly scalable batch and streaming data pipelines, optimise performance and ensure robust data quality across the enterprise, working closely with senior engineers, analysts and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise batch and streaming data pipelines using AWS and Databricks
• Implement data models, transformations and ingestion frameworks, for example Medallion architecture (Bronze-Silver-Gold)
• Manage and maintain ETL/ELT processes with Azure Data Factory, Fabric Pipelines or equivalent tools
• Build high-performance SQL queries and analytical models for reporting and analytics
• Ensure data quality, reliability and lineage through testing, monitoring and documentation
• Work with data scientists, analysts and business stakeholders to turn requirements into scalable solutions
• Manage version control, branching and CI/CD with Git, and promote modular code, testing and automation

Required profile

• 5+ years of data engineering experience covering batch and streaming workloads
• Full data lifecycle experience, hands-on and with a solid engineering mindset
• Excellent communication, documentation and stakeholder collaboration skills

Required skills

• Strong Python, including NumPy and Pandas
• Strong SQL for production-grade transformations and analytical models
• AWS and Databricks, especially Delta Lake or lakehouse environments
• Data modelling (star/snowflake), Medallion architecture and CDC/incremental patterns
• ETL/ELT orchestration (Azure Data Factory, Fabric Pipelines or equivalent)
• Git, branching strategies and CI/CD integration
