Senior Cost Manager - Retail

About the role

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join a team delivering retail projects for a key national client. The role covers a diverse portfolio of new store, renewal and refurbishment projects, providing end-to-end cost management from concept design through to final account settlement. It suits someone who enjoys client-facing work, can work independently and is passionate about quality cost management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead pre-contract cost planning and estimating during project design phases
• Prepare, review and manage project budgets across multiple retail projects
• Manage procurement and tender evaluation activities
• Assess progress claims, contract variations and final accounts
• Monitor project costs and give commercial advice to clients and project teams
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Woolworths project teams and stakeholders
• Support and mentor junior team members
• Stay up to date on local construction and property markets and benchmark costs
• Collaborate with cost and project management teams across multiple locations
• Deliver accurate reporting, forecasting and commercial advice, taking ownership of deliverables

Required profile

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline
• Minimum 8 years' experience in cost management, quantity surveying or a similar role
• Strong experience in cost planning and estimating, contract administration, procurement and tendering, progress claim assessment, variation management and final account negotiations
• Experience managing relationships with clients, contractors and consultants
• Desirable: RICS and/or AIQS membership or accreditation, CostX experience, retail or multi-site program delivery experience, and exposure to national account or portfolio-based delivery
