Senior Cost Manager / Associate - Data Centres, Education, Government, Retail

About the role

Turner & Townsend, a global professional services company with over 22,000 people in more than 60 countries and majority-owned by CBRE Group, is recruiting a Senior Cost Manager/Associate in Melbourne. The role covers cost management for data centres, education, government and retail projects, including feasibility studies, tendering, procurement and post-contract reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Produce feasibility studies and write procurement reports.
• Estimate and cost plan, including producing and presenting the final cost plan.
• Manage tendering and procurement: prequalification, tender list, preliminaries, pre-tender estimates, tender analysis, tender report and contractual documents.
• Handle post-contract cost variances and change control, referring major changes to the line manager.
• Assess progress claims on site and carry out cost checks and valuations on larger projects.
• Produce monthly post-contract cost reports for the line manager to present to the client.
• Input into value engineering and feed lessons learned into the company's internal database.
• Follow project governance and cascade cost management procedures to staff; lead a cost management team where appropriate.
• Develop new business opportunities with existing clients and follow SOX control requirements where applicable.

Required profile

• Recognised degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar.
• Sound experience in cost planning and contract administration.
• 5+ years of cost management experience, with an emphasis on consultancy roles.
• Experience managing clients, contractors and consultants directly.
• RICS and AIQS accreditation preferred; previous CostX experience preferred.

• Intermediate to high-level MS Excel.
• Cost planning, contract administration and tendering.
