Senior Consultant - Urban Planning

About the role

Urbis, a multidisciplinary urban consultancy, is looking for an experienced Senior Consultant to join its Urban Planning team in Brisbane. The role suits someone passionate about shaping the future of Queensland's cities and communities who enjoys solving complex planning challenges. You will give strategic and statutory planning advice across projects such as urban renewal, mixed-use developments, infrastructure, precinct planning and growth areas.

Key responsibilities

• Provide planning services including strategic and statutory advice on land use, planning policy, strategic plans, development capability, due diligence assessments, master plans, the approval process and management
• Collaborate with internal and external multidisciplinary teams covering economics, urban design, transport advisory, community planning and stakeholder engagement
• Link policy settings, demographic trends and systems to give projects broader context
• Write submissions, proposals and advice that reflect client needs
• Work with other professionals to specification, deadlines and budget, with a commercial outcome
• Mentor and develop junior staff

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Urban/Town Planning or a closely related discipline, ideally with 5 years of relevant experience in a consultancy or local/state government environment
• Detailed understanding of statutory planning frameworks, controls and processes, and of policy implementation through planning schemes
• Queensland-based experience preferred; skills in other planning jurisdictions acceptable
• Proven track record of managing projects and mentoring team members
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, proactivity and a digitally curious mindset
