Senior Consultant, Investment Operations

About the role

Northern Trust Asset Management is looking for a Senior Consultant for its Investment Operations team in Melbourne. The role focuses on day-to-day Front Office Support tasks and overseeing the services of the global investment operations teams, reporting directly to the Head of Investment Operations, APAC.

Key responsibilities

• Complete daily Front Office Support, Aladdin (IBOR) and Investment Operations tasks, with a strong focus on portfolio management and trading support.
• Liaise with the global Front Office Support team and other Investment Operations teams.
• Support client onboarding, client changes, custodian, FX, broker or custody escalations and cash flow activities.
• Provide operational support to Investment, Product and Distribution teams and anticipate their needs.
• Drive local implementation of strategic initiatives and support long-term growth and profitability plans.
• Take part in building target operating models for new products and clients.
• Improve processes through automation and AI tools.
• Support vendor management, risk and control programs (RCSA, RCE, BCP, operational resiliency, Internal Audit) and compliance and regulatory change programs.
• Identify and escalate risks and issues in a timely way, and follow up on outstanding actions across departments.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in a Global Asset Management or Asset Servicing environment across asset classes such as equity, fixed income and derivatives.
• Ability to lead local implementation of transformational change in a fast-growing business unit.
• Strong multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced, hybrid and global environment with tight deadlines.
• Experience in highly matrixed global organisations and strong stakeholder relationship building.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills, able to present to senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of operational, middle office and front office support functions.
• Knowledge of BlackRock Aladdin is an advantage.
