Senior Consultant – Business Services

About the role

Join the Business Services division of a leading Australian accounting firm, supporting private businesses, family groups, not‑for‑profits and foreign‑owned companies. You will manage a portfolio of clients, provide cross‑border accounting services for the Asian sector and work across key industries such as property, resources, manufacturing and financial services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, manage and administer a client portfolio, including budgeting, WIP tracking and billing.
• Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships.
• Review financial accounts, FBT, GST, BAS and IAS filings performed by junior staff.
• Provide technical support, coaching and feedback to intermediates, graduates and cadets.
• Identify and develop business opportunities within the existing client base.
• Assist with new client acquisition, attend meetings and prepare presentations.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Business Services environment within a Chartered/CPA practice.
• Degree qualified and near‑ or fully qualified as a CA/CPA.
• Strong client relationship skills and ability to mentor junior staff.
• Excellent time‑management and ability to meet deadlines for a large client group.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of GST, Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements.
• Proficiency with APS, Business Fitness, Xero, MYOB and Dext.
• Understanding of company secretarial matters, the Corporations Act and tax legislation.
• Mandarin language skills (highly regarded).
