Senior Compliance Officer (Electoral Funding) - APS6

About the role

A federal government client is recruiting three APS6 Senior Compliance Officers through Alchemy Recruitment, based in Canberra or Melbourne. The client's regulatory division is expanding to administer major reforms to Australia's electoral funding and disclosure laws. You will join the Disclosure and Compliance team, working under limited direction to review financial disclosure returns, lead complex compliance assessments and oversee election funding payments while guiding junior staff. It is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term APS engagement starting 2 November 2026, with possible extension to 18 months, and is office-based.

Key responsibilities

• Independently review financial disclosure returns for accuracy, completeness and legislative compliance.
• Undertake complex compliance assessments of election funding claims.
• Oversee and coordinate the accurate processing and payment of election funding.
• Lead the collection and analysis of information to identify potential non-compliance, including foreign influence risks.
• Provide leadership, guidance and support to junior staff.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience supporting or leading financial audits or similar assurance activities.
• Experience guiding or reviewing the work of others.
• Highly regarded qualifications or experience in accounting, commerce, finance or a related field.
• Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance.
• Candidates must be politically neutral; those active in political affairs are not eligible.
