Senior Communication Specialist (Maternity Cover)

About the role

Rio Tinto is seeking a Senior Communication Specialist to cover a 12‑month maternity leave. Based in either Perth or Brisbane, you will support the enterprise‑wide communications strategy for a modern ERP transformation, creating clear, engaging content for a large, diverse workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement regional communication plans aligned with program schedules.
• Create collateral such as packs, templates, toolkits and newsletters.
• Write, edit and publish key messages, milestone updates and leader communications across LinkedIn, Viva Engage and SharePoint.
• Build and promote the program’s brand identity.
• Monitor communication effectiveness and provide metric‑driven recommendations.
• Foster strong relationships with stakeholders and deliver communications training as needed.
• Coordinate translation of content with external vendors.

Required profile

• Commitment to personal and team safety.
• Proven experience developing and executing communications plans.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to translate technical information into clear, digestible content.
• Experience in digital or transformational programs within complex enterprises.
• Passion for innovation, continuous improvement and finding better ways.

• Video editing and photography basics.
