Senior Cloud Engineer (Azure)

About the role

A Federal Government project in the ACT is looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer with a strong background in Microsoft Azure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevSecOps. The role supports the delivery of secure, scalable and resilient cloud solutions in a highly secure environment. It is advertised as an exclusive opportunity managed by Ignite, with a 12-month initial contract and two 6-month extension options, hybrid arrangements in Woking, and Australian citizenship and NV1 security clearance are mandatory.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and support Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
• Implement and maintain Azure landing zones, networking, identity, security, governance and monitoring services.
• Develop and manage IaC solutions with tools such as Terraform, Bicep or similar.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation through Azure DevOps.
• Support cloud migration and modernisation initiatives.
• Implement cloud security controls and ensure compliance with government security frameworks and best practices.
• Produce technical documentation, implementation guides and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Required profile

• Extensive experience designing and implementing Azure cloud solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with IaC and DevOps practices, and with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in complex enterprise or government environments.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Australian citizenship and NV1 security clearance.
