Senior Cloud Engineer - AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform

About the role

An established Australian SaaS fintech is recruiting a Senior Cloud Engineer to help evolve its cloud infrastructure. The business runs a SaaS platform on a hybrid environment, with a longer-term move toward running entirely in the cloud, and wants an experienced engineer to shape that transition. The role reports to the Cloud Infrastructure Manager and balances infrastructure improvements with the operational needs of a live platform.

Key responsibilities

• Build and improve AWS infrastructure, including production Kubernetes workloads on Amazon EKS
• Help plan and execute the transition from hybrid to a fully cloud-based environment
• Develop reusable infrastructure using Terraform, CloudFormation or similar tools
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and container build and release processes
• Strengthen observability, incident response, backup, disaster recovery and capacity planning
• Embed security: identity and access controls, secrets management, vulnerability scanning, patching and container image security
• Optimise resource utilisation and cloud efficiency
• Mentor engineers and contribute to infrastructure standards

Required profile

• Significant experience designing and operating production cloud infrastructure, ideally in a SaaS or product engineering environment
• Previous experience leading a hybrid-to-cloud migration is highly valued
• Background supporting infrastructure at significant scale
• Comfortable owning work from design through implementation and collaborating across engineering teams

Required skills

• Deep practical knowledge of AWS services and cloud architecture
• Production Kubernetes, preferably Amazon EKS, including upgrades, scaling and troubleshooting
• Infrastructure as code and automation
• CI/CD pipelines and secure container delivery
• Cloud networking, infrastructure security and operational resilience
• Linux administration and scripting or programming
