Senior Cloud Engineer - AWS

About the role

Versent is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS) in Sydney. The role plays a key part in designing and delivering technical solutions aligned with the customer's transformation goals. It is hands-on, working closely with internal teams and customer engineers to contribute to detailed design and produce high-quality engineering artefacts. A Senior Engineer delivers outcomes independently while guiding and supporting Engineers and Associate Engineers.

Required skills

• Designing and implementing AWS infrastructure and platform services
• Automated cloud environments with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation or similar)
• Highly available, scalable and resilient architectures across AWS services
• Secure networking architectures, including VPC design, segmentation and controlled connectivity
• Automated deployment pipelines integrated into CI/CD workflows
• Cloud-native operational practices: observability, automation and reliability engineering
• Embedding security controls, identity-first security (RBAC, federation, least privilege) and configuration drift prevention
• Secure data handling, encryption, key management and data access controls
• Continuous cloud security visibility, compliance validation, threat modelling and security architecture reviews
• Bonus: CNAPP and CSMP concepts and tools such as Wiz, Prisma Cloud and Orca
