Senior Claims Advisor - Workers Compensation

About the role

JBS Australia is looking for an experienced Senior Claims Advisor to join its Queensland Workers Compensation team. Working within a self-insured environment, you will own a portfolio of claims from lodgement through to finalisation and give technical guidance and support to the wider claims team. The role suits someone who enjoys the technical side of claims management and wants to help injured workers and return-to-work outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of Queensland workers compensation claims from lodgement to finalisation
• Make liability decisions and develop strategies for complex and sensitive claims
• Partner with injured workers, leaders, treating practitioners and rehabilitation providers on safe, sustainable return to work outcomes
• Develop and review tailored rehabilitation and return to work strategies
• Review and authorise claim payments and entitlements
• Coach and mentor Claims Advisors and assist with complex claim reviews and workflow priorities
• Build relationships with Operations, People & Culture, medical and rehabilitation providers and legal representatives
• Improve claim quality, processes and customer experience, and support compliance with Queensland workers compensation legislation and self-insurance requirements

Required profile

• Significant experience managing Queensland workers compensation claims, including complex and sensitive matters
• Demonstrated experience determining liability and managing claims through to finalisation
• Strong rehabilitation and return to work capability
• Confidence to coach and guide other claims professionals
• Ability to manage competing priorities calmly and professionally

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of Queensland workers compensation legislation and self-insurance requirements
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills
• Sound judgement and clear communication of difficult decisions
• Strong written communication and attention to detail
• Knowledge of relevant medical and legal terminology
