Senior Buyer - Procurement

About the role

Johnson Controls is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to join its Sydney team. This is a strategic, hands-on procurement role covering sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, cost optimisation and procurement governance across a diverse portfolio of projects and service operations. The role works with local and international suppliers to ensure teams have the right products, services and subcontractors to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sourcing and procurement activities across project and service operations.
• Manage the RFQ process and evaluate supplier submissions on cost, quality, risk and delivery performance.
• Negotiate and manage long-term pricing agreements and contracts across Security, HVAC, Refrigeration, BMS and subcontracted services.
• Manage purchasing with local and international suppliers, including order placement, expediting and supplier coordination.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive procurement savings, supplier rationalisation and working capital improvements.
• Handle supplier onboarding, vendor registration, periodic evaluations and compliance, and resolve order, delivery, pricing and contractual issues.
• Act as the main liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders and keep up with industry trends and best practice.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in procurement, purchasing, strategic sourcing, contracts or supply chain management.
• Experience in technology, construction, engineering, facilities management or industrial sectors is highly regarded.
• Right to work in Australia; pre-employment checks including medical assessment, criminal history check and drug and alcohol screening apply.

Required skills

• Commercial negotiation and supplier relationship management.
• Knowledge of procurement governance, contract management and relevant legal considerations.
• Proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite.
