Senior Australian Payroll Accountant

About the role

Buddle is looking for an experienced Senior Finance & Payroll Accountant to own the day-to-day finance and payroll function of its growing Australian business. This is a standalone finance role for someone who enjoys working independently, delivers accurate financial outcomes and can manage payroll, reconciliations and month-end activities with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll for Australian employees, from data collection through to final pay distribution and post-payroll reconciliation, including superannuation, STP reporting and PAYG obligations
• Process supplier invoices, prepare and run payment batches, reconcile supplier statements and generate customer invoices
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations, process intercompany transactions and assist with month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
• Support audit preparation and finance documentation
• Help improve finance processes, support automation and ad hoc reporting, and collaborate with cross-functional teams

Required profile

• CPA or CA qualified
• At least 3 years of accounting, payroll or finance operations experience
• Experience supporting Australian accounting or payroll processes is a must
• Able to work independently in a remote environment

Required skills

• Experience using accounting, payroll or ERP systems
• Experience with cloud-based finance systems or automation tools is a plus
• Multi-entity exposure is advantageous but not required
