Senior Auditor

About the role

Horizon Nexus Partners, a progressive professional services firm aiming to become Australia's leading provider across Audit, Tax, Private, Super and Deals Advisory, is looking for a Senior Auditor. The role leads audit engagements from planning through to completion, works closely with Managers and Partners, and mentors junior team members. It is more than compliance: candidates are encouraged to think commercially and build long-term trusted client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver audit engagements from planning through to completion.
• Prepare and review financial statements and audit documentation.
• Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted point of contact.
• Identify accounting issues, assess commercial implications and develop practical solutions.
• Resolve accounting discrepancies and give technical guidance where required.
• Deliver high-quality work within agreed budgets and timeframes.
• Keep Managers and Partners informed of client developments, risks and opportunities.
• Ensure audit files meet firm quality standards and documentation requirements.
• Mentor, coach and review the work of junior team members.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Business.
• CA or CPA qualification (or near completion).
• Around five or more years' experience in external audit within a public practice.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Australian Auditing Standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong commercial acumen.
• Outstanding communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements at once.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to quickly learn new audit technologies and systems.
