Senior Associate, Business Services

About the role

Grant Thornton Australia is looking for an experienced Business Services Senior Accountant to join its Melbourne team, which is an established team with a targeted growth plan. The team fosters collaboration and inclusion and supports candidates following their chosen pathway within Business Services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements, tax returns, BAS, FBT and payroll tax returns, and assist with tax and accounting advice for privately owned businesses, high net worth families and corporate clients, with possible exposure to international clients
• Prepare SMSF financial reports and tax returns
• Research and analyse tax technical issues across various tax areas
• Liaise regularly with the ATO, including seeking remission of ATO penalties and interest
• Monitor, review and liaise with clients and regulatory bodies on accounting compliance requirements
• Contribute to the development and implementation of commercial structures that help clients achieve their business and personal goals
• Build strong client relationships and regularly review compliance requirements with them

Required profile

• Experience within a professional service firm, working with family groups, private businesses and high net worth individuals
• Knowledge and application of Australian tax legislation across corporates, privately owned businesses and individuals
• Tertiary qualification and CA/CPA qualification (or currently completing)
• Interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels of client organisations
• A flexible, adaptable and innovative approach to complex problem solving
