Head of Finance Business Lending

About the role

NAB is looking for a Head of Finance to lead its Finance Partnering team supporting Business Lending (BL) within Business and Private Banking. The role translates the BL business strategy into a functional plan, sets direction for the BL leadership team and acts as a valued partner to the business, influencing key decisions. It sits in a finance team focused on moving with speed.

Key responsibilities

• Translate the Business Lending strategy into a functionally effective plan and give overall direction to the BL leadership team so objectives and initiatives are delivered within strategic parameters.
• Support the BL executives, working with the CFO, to grow the business, align with strategic ambition and deliver transformation and simplification benefits in a sustainable, coordinated way.
• Identify financial and non-financial performance trends through critical review and analysis, and recommend strategies to improve business performance.
• Collaborate to simplify finance by delivering standard reporting and financial control activities consistently across Finance.
• Work with peers to identify and leverage best practice to lift effectiveness across the Finance partner team.
• Lead, coach and develop a diverse team, build a feedback culture and a psychologically safe environment, track results and give clear follow-up and feedback.

Required profile

• Demonstrated customer obsession.
• Proven ability to solve complex problems, typically gained at a strategy consulting firm, in-house strategy team or investment bank (and/or similar related experience).
• Ability to engage, collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience partnering with divisions, corporate centre planning and reporting, and financial control roles.
• Relevant tertiary qualification, ideally CA/CPA qualified.

Required skills

• Excellent written communication, shown through drafting and contributing to board-level presentations and reports.
• Proficiency in developing financial models and strategic frameworks.
